TEXT: JOHN 17:1-11
MEMORY VERSE: “These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour has come, glorify thy son, that thy son may glorify thee”(John 17:1 KJV).
There is time for everything in life and when it is due, all that is embedded in it is manifested. Jesus had a perfect understanding of the times and seasons, hence made a demand on His Father for His glorification. We pray for you this morning that your own hour of glorification is come, in the Name of Jesus. The prayer of Jesus in our text clearly reveals the purpose of glory and what it means to be glorified.
Mark this, the main essence of your glorification is so that you can glorify God. Note: God is a jealous God and “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another…” (Isaiah 42:8). To tamper with the glory due God is to incur His wrath and be stripped of glory in life. God expects that as He glorifies us in life, we should gloriously return all the glory to Him. Here are some of the ways God is glorified by our glorification.
The Elimination of Darkness with the Light: One major assignment of glory is to handle and humble darkness. It is not possible to have darkness rear its ugly head in the presence of a glorified life(Isaiah 60:1-2; Matt. 5:16).
The Enthronement of God in our Generation: We are glorified to enthrone God like Elijah who made a mess of the prophets of Baal and God was enthroned; like Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego who enthroned God by refusing to bow to the golden image; like Daniel who maintained his prayer life against all odds and God was enthroned.
Kingdom Expansion and Soul Winning: Every time we expand the kingdom by our activities and win more souls, God is glorified (Luke 15:7).
- Glorify God with your life and never steal God’s glory.
- Thank you, Lord, for glorifying my life, forgive my days of the abuse and misuse of the glory.
