TEXT: JEREMIAH 5:20-31
MEMORY VERSE: “Your iniquities have turned these things away and your sins have withheld good from you” Jeremiah 5:25 NKJV
“Prayer is worship addressed to the Father, in the name of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit” (Dr. H. W. First). “Prayer is an offering up our desires to God for all things lawful and needful, with humble confidence that we shall obtain them through the mediation of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
The Bible says, “Ask and it shall be given unto you; seek and you shall find; knock and the door will be opened unto you” (Mathew 7:7 NIV). Have you taken the thought of why your prayers are not answered despite your persistent prayers? The memory verse has given one of the answers to the reasons for prayers not answered – sin.
Other reasons for prayers not answered are below:
We must forgive others for God to answer our prayers – Matt. 6:14-15; Mark 11:25.
We must pray in faith, believing that God is able to do all things – Mark 11:24.
When it is not yet the time for God to answer the prayer – Habakkuk 2:3
When we ask amiss i.e., with the wrong motive or out of the will of God. James 4:3
