TEXT: EZEKIEL 8: 1-13
MEMORY VERSE:
“Then said He unto me, son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the Lord seeth us not: the Lord hath forsaken the earth.” Ezekiel 8:12
It is always said that there is nothing hidden that will not be exposed; there is nothing done in the secret that will not be known. It may be hidden from a man but not God. He formed the eyes, so He will see; He formed the ears, so He will hear, and He teaches man knowledge, so He will know (Psalm 94:9-10). He is the all-knowing God – the Omniscient.
Israel did many abominable things thinking that God would not know. The height of the abomination is as stated in verses 7- a hole in the wall inside which there were “wicked abomination”- every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all idols of the house of Israel (7-10). In verse 12, God told Ezekiel that was what “the ancient house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery.” In verse 13, the Lord said there were yet greater abominations that they did. But the people said God will not see them – verse 12.
Do we have better behaviours today? Will God not see the abominations that we commit in the dark? A ‘Pastor’ was said to have buried charms in the Altar of his church somewhere in Ondo or Ekiti State, Nigeria, as reported by one of the dailies. For another ‘Pastor’, it was a newborn baby. The most recent is the Pastor who abducted many children and kept them in an underground place, from where according to him, they will be raptured. All these atrocities were exposed. There is no secrecy with God. Jehovah sees. Jehovah knows.
- Are there ungodly things you do secretly?
- Pray to God to give you the spiritual power to resist the urge to do evil.
