ESOCS Devotional 18 June 2024 – Find Your Alignment
MEMORY VERSE: “For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day.” Mark 9:31 NKJV
30 Then they departed from there and passed through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know it. 31 For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day.” 32 But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him.
33 Then He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, “What was it you disputed among yourselves on the road?” 34 But they kept silent, for on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest. 35 And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” 36 Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, 37 “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.”

Alignment is the act of putting things in corresponding position or action with another. Making things to be line with one another in order not to disturb, antagonize, oppose or distort its progress or effectiveness. As it is with things, so it is with beings. God, the Holy Being has purpose to fulfil on earth. As a Spirit, He needs humans that live on earth to carry out His purposes here. He has programmed humans to fulfil them. Every one of us on earth who has come into the family of God has one or more of those purposes to fulfil for God. So, staying in line and living in accordance with the mandate on our lives is alignment.
Without alignment, even vehicle tyres would have problems and the driver would not have a convenient ride. So it is with the kingdom of God. Lord Jesus Christ is a strong and perfect example of the life of alignment. He was One that knew His alignment and stayed on it in its progressive revelation until He finished His mandate on earth. We can hear Him always talking about it. For instance, during His baptism He knew John was supposed to baptize Him. He was never out of alignment with God’s intentions and plans for Him. When He read Isaiah 61 in the Synagogue, He said this scripture is fulfilled this day. Wow, talk of alignment! He knew His purposes on earth too well. He knew when He wss to die, why He was to die, how long He will stay in the grave and resurrect.
No wonder Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesians in Ephesians 1:15-18: “Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”
He did same in Colossians 1:9-11. We should tow the same line, we should be engaged in the same prayer and sensitivity of spirit so we would always be in line with the Holy Spirit, as He leads us in God’s plans and purposes. Beloved, connect to Jesus, learn from Jesus and find alignment.
- Seek and trust God for alignment. It’s very important because none alignment is like evil sin.
- Father, please help me by the Holy Spirit to be in alignment with your plans and purposes.
