TEXT: EZEKIEL 36:33-38
MEMORY VERSE: “… I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it” (Ezekiel 36:36).
At a time when the world is beclouded with falsehood and people making fake promises, it becomes imperative to confirm the faithfulness of God in keeping to His promises. The culprits include spouses, parents, friends, colleagues, employers, employees, political and community leaders, and many church and religious leaders too. It is a shame!
Yet, in the midst of all these, the reliable, dependable, unchangeable God has remained consistent with His words. What are the proofs of God’s commitment to fulfilling His words?
It is absolutely impossible for God to lie: “God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encourage” (Heb. 6:18 NIV).
Nothing is impossible with Him. He said concerning Himself, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” (Jer. 32:27). The angel that spoke to our mother Mary about Elizabeth’s conception at a very old age said to her, “For with God nothing shall be impossible” (Luke 1:37).
His word is a surety, an undeniable and incontestable assurance. He said, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). Our Lord said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matt. 24:25).
Because He is the sovereign God, you should have absolute faith in Him and His promises. Pray consistently and He will meet you at the point of your need.
- Study God’s wondrous works in the world and you would find reason to trust Him absolutely.
- Father grant me grace to believe your word.
