TEXT: MATTHEW 9: 18-26
MEMORY VERSE:
“But when the people were put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.” Matthew 9:25 IKJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
As a great multitude followed Jesus, Jarius, a leader in one of the local synagogues, fell on His feet in worship. His only daughter of about twelve years lied critical in his house. Jarius knew that Jesus was more than just a teacher or prophet. Not minding the crowding multitude around Jesus, he persistently begged Him to follow him to his house. (Mark 5:22-23, Luke 8: 41-42).
On the way to Jarius’ house, a woman with the issue of blood for twelve years came, pressing her way through the crowd. She had spent all she had on doctors, but no result (Mark 5:26). In faith, she reasoned that if she could only touch the garment of the Master, she would be healed (Mark 5:28). Absolutely, her faith in the overriding healing powers of Jesus, moved her to reach forth to the garment of the Master. Truly, her faith made her whole. She was healed instantly (Mark 5:29). In other words, her strong faith motivated her to overcome all obstacles. Eventually, she reached out and touched the one who had the power to heal and to save.(See also: Luke 7:50; 8:38-39; 17:19; 18:42).
Jesus was still involved in the events concerning the healing of the issue of blood, when the news of the death of Jarius’ daughter came. (Mark 5:35). When Jesus arrived the house, some of those who mourned mocked and laughed at Him. But His only response was, “get out! ……….The girl isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.” (NLT). Generally speaking, in the eyes of God, the death of the righteous is only a sleep, since they will eventually rise on the last day. But in the specific situation here, the One who has the power to resurrect can change a dead person back in a living soul. In vss. 25/26, when Jesus took the girl by the hand, He commanded her to rise (Mark 5:41; Luke 8:54). And she arose.
Child of God, what is it that troubles and makes you afraid, as if all hope is lost? Take it to the Lord in prayer. Have faith, in the belief that nothing is too difficult for God to handle. May your living faith in Jesus Christ continually fix all your challenges, in the Most Powerful Name in heaven and on earth.CHALLENGES: You have a sick relation, who has been discharged by the doctors without any improvement.
