TEXT: ACTS 19:13-34 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” Philippians 2:10 KJV
In our text today, we see that when the seven sons of Sceva, who practiced exorcism, took it upon themselves to mix their magical arts with the name of Jesus, the response of the evil spirit was simple and direct thus: “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?” This perhaps goes to show also how powerful and controversial a figure, Paul was in the early church. Luke recorded an amazing number of powerful and outstanding events involving Paul in his demonstration of the power of Christ through sermons, prayers, and miracles – to the point that both demons and the human anti-Christ, such as Demetrius of Ephesus identified him by name.
To Paul, Jesus was the Christ, the Saviour, and the coming Judge of all the earth. In the name of Jesus, Paul pronounced instant judgment against sorcerers, healed the cripple, raised the dead, experienced miraculous release from prison, performed diverse miracles through a shadow or handkerchief. – all in the name of Jesus.

In reverence to the Sacred Name of Jesus, he refused to let the Gentiles worship him. He was mightily directed and used by the Holy Spirit to do mission work – all in the Name of Jesus Christ. To Paul, Jesus is the Lord of all throughout the universe. What about you?
CHALLENGES
- Christianity is the only religion with a living originator (Jesus Christ). Buddha of Buddhism is dead; Brahma of Hinduism is dead; Mohammed of Islam also, and many others. Jesus truly is the highest name both in heaven and earth (Phil. 2:10).
PRAYER POINT
- Lord Jesus, you are truly the indisputable Grand Commander of the entire universe. I will worship you forever. Amen.
