TEXT: GENESIS 13:2-18
MEMORY VERSE:
“And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: for all the land which thou seest, to thee will i give it, and to thy seed forever” (Genesis 13:14-15 KJV).
To receive a blessing from God is a wonderful thing. It is always positive. The word ‘blessing’ here means a gift, enrichment, or an endowment. And this gift, enrichment, or endowment comes from God. It is explicit that God is the source of that blessing. In some translations, the word “riches” is replaced by the word wealth. Thus, it says this blessing brings wealth to that person.
Our text gives us an insight into God’s blessing. Verse 2 of our text tells us that Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. The peculiarity of this blessing is that it adds no sorrow.
There are 6 key things I found that you can do to bring godly wealth and prosperity into your life. I’m sure there are others that I could include, but these seem to be the ones that crop up over and over in the scriptures. Here’s the list:
Diligence – Careful and persistent effort; consistent hard work. The key to all the other keys below is to be diligent in doing them
Seek God in everything – Always seek to please God and delight in His ways. Seeking His guidance and will in your life allows Him to guide you and bless you.
Seek Righteousness – Always seek to live an upright life and you’ll be blessed because of it.
Keep His Commandments (Walk in His Ways) – Know what God’s ways of doing things are, and when you live by those ways you’ll be greatly blessed.
Honour God with Your Wealth – Be a tither, and give offerings over and above the tithe. We are made in the image of God to be givers, and when we do, it opens up windows for God to do huge things in our lives!
- Ponder on those things that easily make you not to be obedient to God’s instructions and deal with them in the place of prayers.
- Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to be obedient to you always.
