ESOCS Devotional 12 August
TEXT: Mark 16: 14-20
MEMORY VERSE: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:16-18
The life of a believer is a miracle. The grace of God is with him and his spiritual state has changed. He is not the same person he was, something fundamental has changed. He has received a new life, a life that is in every way different from what he had. The life he has now is not subject to those things and those forces that mortal man is subjected to. Sickness cannot reign in his life, curses are of no effect, and death does not reign in his life because he carries not the life of man but the life of God. Nothing can hurt him for the stuff he is made of is incorruptible. He is a winner, and a victor.
He has received power and great ability, his dominion has been restored, powers of darkness have been subjected to him and he has been empowered to tread upon serpents and scorpions. The believer is no ordinary person. He carries awesome power and immeasurable grace. All these have effect on the life he lives.

He will succeed where there is failure; he will exercise dominion over evil forces and therefore will cast out demons, heal the sick, set the captives free, and perform diverse miracles. God has empowered him with ability to do so. These things, Christ says, will follow them that believe. It will be seen, it will not hide, for it is in the nature of who they have become in Christ Jesus.
God has set forth the believer to be an example of His will for the life of man. The power of sin in man has dimmed God’s blessing on man, subjected him to powers of darkness, and made his life a problem; but the believer is freed from all these.
CHALLENGES
- Do you think it is possible to b free from evil forces?
- What is the greatest obstacle to the believer experiencing this victorious life?
PRAYER POINT:
- Lord we thank you for the great grace made available to the believer. May my life in every respect reflect your will. Amen.
