TEXT: EXODUS 13:3-10
MEMORY VERSE: “And thou shalt shew thy son in that day saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt” (Exodus. 13:8).
It is a mark of gratitude to recall before a person what favour or good work he did for you years past. The ungrateful ones do not do it. In our text today, Moses warns Israel not to forget the wonders of God’s grace.
If you take things common in life, the things that you must take seriously are the miracles, signs, and wonders that God did in your life (Ps. 34:1-4). In verse 3 of our text, Moses told Israel “… Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place …” (KJV).
Celebrating God’s love, kindness, favour, protection, deliverance, provision, blessing, and many others are pleasing to Him. We should always appreciate His goodness towards us with a thankful heart; and also tell others about it.
As we raise up our children, we should tell them about God’s mercies and benevolence in diverse ways. It would encourage them to depend on God and grow in His ways, and not in the ways of the world. They would see God as their sustenance and remain glued to Him and His word. Telling children about God all the time helps to keep them within the path of seeking to please God in their life. It would leave an indelible mark in their heart, make a definite impression in their mind, and create a growing relationship with God in their heart. They would nurture that relationship, as they mature into adulthood.
Let us help the children to meet with the Lord early in their life through sharing with them the wonders of God’s abundant grace.
- How often do you celebrate and share God’s goodness with others?
- Thank you, Lord for your great mercies and love towards me and my family.
