TEXT: LUKE 4:1-13
MEMORY VERSE: “And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.” Luke 4:13 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place ”
4 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit [a]into the wilderness, 2 being [b]tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, [c]but by every word of God.’ ”
5 [d]Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, [e]“Get behind Me, Satan! [f]For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you,’
11 and,
‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not [g]tempt the Lord your God.’ ”
13 Now when the devil had ended every [h]temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
For everything that has a beginning, the end has been divinely predetermined. If it ever began, then it must surely come to an end. The only thing that has no end is what never began. On the first day of the second month of the year, we declare over your life that whatever trouble the devil started in your life is coming to an end, in the name of Jesus. “…weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5 KJV). May this new month be a confirmation of the end of shame and beginning of your celebration, in the name of Jesus.
Many times we go through several temptations in life that it appears as though it will never come to an end. Most times these temptations manifests back to back, with the chain looking endless. But no matter how long it takes, be certain that an end has been designed for them. Going from turning stones to bread, to bowing down to worship him and jumping from the pinnacle of the temple, the devil consistently tempted Jesus. To the glory of God, the temptation ended and the devil departed from Jesus. Today, we declare over your life, every temptation manipulated from the kingdom of darkness, against your life, destiny, family, marriage, academics, career and ministry shall be ended, in the name of Jesus Christ. We decree that the demon, agents of darkness, witch or wizard responsible for the temptation pack and leave your life NOW, in the name of Jesus Christ.
It is a new day for you. Congratulations!
- Feed yourself with God’s word always to constantly overcome all temptation.
- Be a person of fervent prayer.
- Be determined to live for God.
- Father, thank you for the assurance of putting to an end all the temptations around my life. Grant me the grace to study your word and live correctly for you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
