The Rivers State Police Command, has confirmed that there was an exchange of gunfire between suspected cultists and officers of its tactical unit along the Emohua axis of the East West Road on Saturday.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP, Grace Koko confirmed this in a statement at the weekend.
She said the Police overpowered the armed men who fled the scene, and that efforts are on to arrest them.
There were reports of sporadic shooting at the Elibrada and Oduoha communities in Emouha Local Government Area of Rivers on Saturday.
A Facebook user identified as Nlewedum Emmanuel, alleged that the Police could not withstand the battle which lasted over an hour, and scampered for safety.
