Eleme Local Government Area has launched a decisive initiative to tackle traffic congestion caused by illegal parking along the Eleme Axis of the East/West road and the old Aleto/Bori roads.
Chairman of Eleme LGA, Chief Hon. (Dr.) Ajuriebie Brain Emere Gokpa, announced the formation of a Road Decongestion, Illegal Parking, and Unauthorized Marketing Committee to restore order in the affected areas. The committee, led by Elera Sagbe, the Council’s Chief Security Officer, has issued a seven-day ultimatum for the removal of abandoned and illegally parked vehicles. Defaulters risk having their vehicles impounded.
The initiative aims to improve traffic flow and enhance the environmental aesthetics of Eleme. The committee is set to enforce the directive rigorously, urging security agencies and stakeholders to support the exercise for effective implementation.
This directive was disclosed by Udeme Obot, Chief Press Secretary, Eleme LGA, on February 11, 2025.
