Leaders of Eleme Local Government Area have commended Governor Nyesom Wike for donating foodstuffs to the 13 wards of the LGA, to help cushion the effect of the closure of markets and businesses in the state.
The chairman of the state’s COVID-19 palliatives committee, Desmond Akawor on Wednesday, distributed the foodstuffs to the leaders of the 13 wards in Eleme LGA. Amb. Desmond charged the leaders to ensure the items gets to the poor and vulnerable in the area.
The items are meant for the people, irrespective of religion and party affiliation, Akawor stated. He noted that the committee is working to ensure that it follows the guidelines of Governor Wike in the interest of the people.
In his remark, Chairman of the LGA, Phillip Okwaraji commended the state governor for his benevolence in this trying period. He assured the committee that his people are in support of the measures taken so far by the state government.
Representatives of the different wards also commended the governor for his kind gesture and assured the chairman of fair distribution of the items.
