Former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Abel Eke, has declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition, saying his decision follows Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent endorsement of the political movement and call for reconciliation in Rivers State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Eke said he, alongside his supporters, stakeholders and political associates, had resolved to align with Governor Fubara’s position in the interest of peace, unity and purposeful leadership.
He said the governor’s declaration that he had “gone back to our family” and his appeal for Rivers people to embrace unity over division signalled the beginning of a new phase for the state.
According to Eke, sustainable development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace, cooperation and shared purpose, stressing that his decision to join the Rainbow Coalition was driven by the need to promote harmony, stability and progress in Rivers State.
The former lawmaker also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aligning with Governor Fubara’s endorsement of the President and pledging commitment to what he described as a collective political direction aimed at strengthening governance, deepening democratic values and advancing the interests of Nigerians.
He urged his supporters to set aside past political differences and embrace reconciliation, saying the move was not merely a political decision but a commitment to the unity, development and prosperity of Rivers State and the country.
Eke called on Rivers people to work together in building a peaceful and progressive future founded on cooperation and a shared vision.
