The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, DSSRS says his administration will commence its Human Capacity Building Development by October next month for indigenes of the area.
Dr. Anyanwu stated this on Tuesday during a grassroots sensitization and advocacy programme organized by the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development at Okehi in Etche.
The Etche council chairman noted that process will be based on merit, adding that the women and men will be carried alongside the youth, while grants will be given to farmers.
He said a committee will be set up that will oversee the implementation across the nineteen wards of Etche Local Government Area.
According to him, his administration is committed to encouraging skills acquisition programme because engagement of the youths would engender peace and reduce unemployment rate in the area.
In his closing remark, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, thanked the Commissioner and his team for the sensitization visit and assured him that the council will partner with the ministry to achieve it’s youth development goals.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Chisom Kenneth, PhD, presented the plan of Siminalayi Fubara’s administration to change Rivers Youth Paradigm from Unemployability to Resourcefulness through the three key areas of ICT/AI Trainings, Vocational Trainings and Entrepreneurship Trainings that will be backed up by starter packs and business funding for skilled youths.
He further informed Etche youths that the current government of the state has earmarked a huge amount of money to support businesses of Rivers Youth and advised them to focus on agriculture and its value chain, seeing that they are blessed with arable and fertile land.
Dr. Gbali admonished Etche youths to shun vices, imbibe positive virtues and prepare their minds to be part of the incoming Youth Development Programs from the Rivers State Government.
He congratulated Etche youths for having a Council Chairman that is executing projects in every wards in Etche, which shows he is a true follower of the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, now the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
