The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, DSSRS, Saturday, commissioned a newly constructed open stalls market with an office, and toilet facilities at Ogida community, for the benefit of the locals.
Dr. Anyanwu said at the occasion, that the market was part of his administration’s effort to provide viable infrastructure that would impact on the lives of rural populace.
The chairman noted that the new market would assist the farmers in showcasing their farm produce thereby improving socio-economic activities of the people.
According to the chairman, his government initiated the ‘one ward, one project’ initiative in response to series of requests from the various communities across the local government to address specific challenges.
Commending the Etche council chairman on the project, Member representing Etche constituency 1 at the Rivers state House of Assembly, Hon. Ignatius Onwuka, noted that the market project is an important one because of its direct impact on the people.
Onwuka praised the chairman for justifying the confidence reposed in him by the people through initiation of people-oriented projects.
Former Vice-chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Uche Ken-Nduwku, thanked the council chairman for extending his developmental strides to Ogida community.
Ken-Ndukwu said the people of Ogida are highly appreciative of the market project and noted that it will boost commerce in the area.
The PDP caretaker chairman in Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Reginald Onwuka praised Dr. Anyanwu and described him as a promise keeper who has the people of Etche at heart.
