Degema Local Government Council has donated a generator set, a borehole tank and drugs to support healthcare delivery and the welfare of Rivers State University (RSU) medical students in Obuama.
The Chairman of Degema LGA, Hon. Michael John Williams, made the donations as part of his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare services and promoting student welfare in the area.
The delga media team in a statement said the items were formally handed over at the Obuama Health Centre on Wednesday by the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Mrs. Obuba Harry Maureen, who represented the chairman.
It stated that while the drugs are intended to address the medical needs of students of the RSU College of Medical Sciences, the generator and borehole tank are expected to provide essential services for their hostel accommodation.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Maureen reaffirmed the chairman’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and providing a conducive environment for learning, healthcare and personal development.
She urged the beneficiaries to take proper care of the items and ensure their effective and sustainable use for the benefit of the students and the wider community.
In his response, the Provost of the RSU College of Medical Sciences, Prof. Kenneth Shelu Ordu, expressed appreciation to the chairman for the intervention, describing it as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to supporting healthcare education and student welfare.
