DCLM Daily Manna 1 June 2026: Ministering Through Writing
KEY VERSE
“Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:3).
BIBLE READING: 1 Corinthians 1:1-3 KJV
Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

In professional letter writing, introductory remarks make a profound statement. They serve as a window into the soul of the writer while establishing a hint of the relationship between him and the reader. You would, therefore, not be expected to go too far into the correspondence before correctly identifying the personalities at work.
The figures in our text are two church leaders. One of them, the beloved Apostle Paul and the other a Greek believer, Sosthenes. The writing was to the church in Corinth, the assembly the Lord used Paul to establish in his 18-month stay there. The writers are messengers of Christ checking on fellow saints. They are kindred spirits, brought together by Christ from different nationalities and sociocultural backgrounds. Paul is moved by this bond to shower anointed benediction on the Corinthians.
Similarly, in the absence of physical contact caused by long distances, church leaders can write to their members to put them in remembrance of the abiding teachings in the Bible. It could be an opportunity to caution them against straying on dangerous paths. It could also serve as a means of praying for them just as Paul did as a loving leader.
Oral ministration can be complemented with literatures for edification. The Church today has better and more efficient means of reaching the unsaved and establishing the members. Technology has made the world a global community and millions can be reached in seconds through spoken and written messages of salvation. Believers should maximise the use of these avenues of winning souls and building up the body of Christ.
