The imediate past Director General of NIMASA and chieftain of the APC, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside has shared his take on “godfatherism” in politics.
Dakuku in a statement yesterday Oct. 1 2020, said political office holders who depend on godfathers to takeover power are under obligation to satisfy their needs before delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
He said: “In the Nigerian context, godfatherism arises from our prebendal politics where powerful persons help someone come to power in exchange for control of treasury, appointments and contracts.
“Political office holders who depend on godfathers to come to power are under obligation to satisfy the yearnings of the godfather before attending to the needs of the people,” he added.
