The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, has reacted to the reversal of ownership of plots of land belonging to DAAR Communications by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The state Assembly few days ago announced a reversal of ownership of the land belonging to DAAR over alleged illegal acquisition. This was after four host communities petitioned the House on the acquisition of the land by DAAR Communications.
However, spokesperson of the APC in the state, Darlington Nwauju described the development as an attempt to bury the free press under the landmine of public complaints investigation.
He noted that the company had in 2001 paid the sum of eighty-nine million naira to the state government for the same parcel of land.
“This singular decision by the Rivers State House of Assembly to reverse ownership of the land housing Daar Communications LTD operators and owners of AIT/Raypower stations despite the fact that the Company had in 2001 paid the sum of #89million to the state for same parcel of land is an attempt to bury the free press under the landmine of public complaints investigation,” he said.
