Governor Nyesom Wike has announced that there would be no sacred cows; double standards and no sentiments of any kind, whether political, ethnic, religious, status, emotional or otherwise. This is in enforcing compliance with his directives on the lockdown in the state.
Wike made this known in a state-wide broadcast yesterday Sunday May 10, 2020 while reacting to the demolition of Prodest and Etemeteh Hotels in Eleme and Onne respectively.
Gov. Wike during the broadcast also announced the temporary lifting of the lockdown earlier imposed on Obio Akpor and PHALGA. This is only on Tuesday May 12 and Wednesday May 13, to enable residents stock up food and medicine. He said the lockdown continues Thursday May 13 2020.
Wike said, only shops, malls, pharmacies, banks, supermarkets are allowed to open. He stated that other established restrictions on social distancing, compulsory use of masks, closure of markets and others on the executive order are still enforced.
He urged residents to obey government’s directives and to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene in line with NCDC directives.
