A female medical doctor, Awebo Oteide has been assaulted and arrested by security personnel along Ohiamini psychiatric road in Port Harcourt.
The doctor in a chat with journalists after her release said the incident happened yesterday while she was on her way to work. Dr Oteide stated that she noticed some officers in a car where trailing her while she was driving. She said, when they finally overtook her, one of them pointed a gun to her face and asked who she was. She explained that she is a medical doctor, but the security personnel slapped her and asked if she was the first medical doctor.
The doctor who said she was physically assaulted, confirmed that she was taken to the state’s isolation centre. She equally noted that her phone was seized by the officers when she tried to take pictures and video clips of the incident. It was at the isolation centre that it was confirmed that the security personnel were officers of the Nigeria Air Force, she asserted.
Oteide who called for the arrest and prosecution of the officers said it was after a series of calls were made that she was released. This was after the Attorney General called and ordered for her release as he apologised to her on phone, she said.
