Rivers State has recorded 53 new cases of the COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,480 with 964 discharged and 47 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle, during its daily update of the COVID-19 in the country yesterday.
Nigeria also recorded 595 new cases of the virus. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with – 156; Ondo 95; Rivers 53; Abia 43; Oyo 38; Enugu 29; Edo 24; FCT 23; Kaduna 20; Akwa Ibom 17; Anambra 17; Osun 17; Ogun 14; Kano 13; Imo 11; Delta 6; Ekiti 5; Gombe 4; Plateau 4; Cross River 2; Adamawa 1; Bauchi 1;Jigawa 1; and Yobe 1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 34,854 with 14,292 discharged and 769 deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has warned Nigerians to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to stop the further spread of the pandemic, which currently has no cure. The commission advised Nigerians not to panic over the increased cases, as the country is on course to curb the spread of the virus.
