Rivers State has recorded 22 new cases of the COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,587 with 1,069 discharged and 49 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle, during its daily update of the COVID-19 in the country yesterday.
Nigeria also recorded 604 new cases of the virus. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with – 203; Oyo-87; FCT-79; Edo-41; Osun-35; Ogun-24; Rivers-22; Kaduna-22; Akwa Ibom-20; Plateau-18; Delta-9; Ebonyi-9; Imo-8; Enugu-5; Kano-5; Cross River-5; Katsina-4; Nasarawa-3; Borno-2; Ekiti-2; and Bauchi-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 38,948 with 16,061 discharged 833 and deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has warned Nigerians to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to stop the further spread of the pandemic, which currently has no cure. The commission advised Nigerians not to panic over the increased cases, as the country is on course to curb the spread of the virus.
