Rivers State has recorded 127 new cases of the COVID-19, yesterday, being its highest daily figure, since the outbreak of the virus. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 866 with 356 discharged and 30 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle during its daily update of the COVID-19 in the country yesterday.
The Centre also announced 661 new cases of the virus in the country. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with – 230; Rivers-127; Delta-83; FCT-60; Oyo-51; Edo-31; Bayelsa-27; Kaduna-25; Plateau-13; Ondo-6; Nasarawa-3; Ekiti-2; Kano-2; and Borno-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 19,808 with 6,718 discharged and 506 deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has warned Nigerians to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to stop the further spread of the pandemic, which currently has no cure. The commission advised Nigerians not to panic over the increased cases, as the country is on course to curb the spread of the virus.
