Rivers State has recorded 103 new cases of the COVID-19, yesterday, being its highest daily figure, since the outbreak of the virus. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 592 with 222 discharged and 23 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made this known on its Twitter handle during its daily update of the COVID-19 in the country yesterday.
The Centre also announced 573 new cases of the virus in the country. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with – 216; Rivers-103; Oyo-68; Edo-40; Kano-21; Gombe-20; FCT-17; Delta-13; Plateau-12; Bauchi-12; Niger-10; Kebbi-9; Ogun-8; Ondo-8; Abia-7; Nasarawa-5; Borno-1; Kwara-1; Benue-1; and Anambra-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 16,658 with 5,349 discharged and 424 deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has warned Nigerians to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to stop the further spread of the pandemic, which currently has no cure. The commission advised Nigerians not to panic over the increased cases, as the country is on course to curb the spread of the virus.
