Rivers State recorded 18 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 6,831 with 6,529 discharged and 98 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made this known on its Twitter handle, during its daily update of COVID-19.
In total, Nigeria recorded 179 new Cases. Ondo recorded the highest number with – 47, Kaduna-21, Rivers-18, Akwa Ibom-14, FCT-11, Edo-10, Cross River-9, Ogun-9, Nasarawa-6, Ebonyi-5, Ekiti-5, Zamfara-5, Delta-4, Kano-4, Osun-4, Plateau-3, Abia-2, Gombe-1 and Sokoto-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 161,074 with 146,072 recovered patients, and 2,018 deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has said that the Astrazeneca vaccine is safe and has no side effects.
