Declares zero tolerance to all forms of examination malpractice.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Education Prof Prince Chinedu Mmom JP has announced the immediate suspension of the principal of Government Secondary School Borokiri Mr. Ewoh Ella over what he described as his engagement in criminal actions.
The Commissioner who announced the suspension during his routine monitoring of WAEC examination today in schools within Port Harcourt said the Principal collected money from external candidates and used the spaces of the internal students to field in the external candidates thereby denying the legitimate students of the school the opportunity to write WAEC.
Prof. Mmom said the action of the principal is criminal, adding that he has admitted to the crime and the law must take its course. He encouraged the students to register in the forth coming NECO examination such that they don’t miss out in all external examinations this year.
Prof. Mmom re-echoed that the state government through the Ministry of Education has zero tolerance for all forms of examination malpractice either by students, principals , supervisors, or teachers stating that anyone caught will be shown the way out.
He called on those extorting money from students in the name of mathset and entrance fees into examination hall to forthwith dissist from such acts adding that examination monitors from the ministry has been sent out to various schools to monitoring on daily basis warning that any one caught will be dealt with accordingly.
Prof. Mmom, who described the conduct of the examination as seamless judging from what he saw, said he was satisfied with the entire process for now and wished that it continued that way till the end of the examination.
Schools monitored by the Commissioner include Model Girls Secondary School Rumeme, Community Secondary School Nkpolu- Oroworokwo, Model Secondary GRA, and Government Secondary School Borokiri
