The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Sir Chidi Lloyd has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the 1-kilometre Omkpova–Mgbere Road project in Ibaa community within the next 100 days in office.
Lloyd made the disclosure on Thursday while addressing members of the Ibaa Peace and Reconciliation Committee during a courtesy visit to his office. He noted that the road, which is the fifth community road project initiated and executed by his administration, could not be completed in his first term due to the political crisis that rocked Rivers State in late 2023, resulting in the withholding of Emohua council funds from the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) for four months.
The council chairman announced that approval had already been granted for proper asphalting of the road ahead of its commissioning as part of activities marking his administration’s first 100 days in office.
On electricity restoration, Sir Lloyd disclosed that the council’s electricity restoration team had captured the Ibaa–Obelle power line and would soon be mobilised to site. He appealed to community leaders and residents to support the team and safeguard all electricity infrastructure and other public projects in their areas.
“Ibaa was the first community to honour me when I assumed office in 2021 by conferring a chieftaincy title and admitting me into an age grade,” Lloyd recalled. “So, we decided to reward the community by constructing the Omkpova–Mgbere Road which was impassable. Now that we are back in office, we will complete the project according to its original specification and commission it in our 100 days in office.”
