— Set To Commission Completed 1.5 Kilometer Uke-Eli Road In Rundele
The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd on Tuesday assented to the Local Government’s 2023 budgetary appropriation estimated at Five Billion, Seven Hundred and Seventy Three Million, Sixty Six Thousand and Twenty Seven Naira, Nine Kobo
Dr. Lloyd’s assent to the 2023 budget followed its approval by the Local Government Legislative Assembly five months after it was presented by the local government chairman.
The council chairman had in December 2022 presented the 2023 appropriation bill to the Councillors for consideration and approval to consolidate on the achievements of his administration within one year.
Speaking at the brief ceremony held in executive chambers of the council secretariat, the council chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to reposition Emohua Local Government Area to attract rapid development to the area.
He said he is not overseeing the LGA to enrich himself but to change the narrative about the area through effective leadership and prudent management of the resources available to the local government council under his watch.
He added that Emohua LGA is not one of those economically viable LGAs, in terms of internally generated revenue but maintained that his administration will continue to judiciously use the resources made available to the council from the federation account for the overall development of the LGA in line with the provisions of the law.
He however advised officers of the Local Government Council with the mindset of enriching themselves with funds meant for the development of the LGA to have a rethink, as such is not achievable under his watch.
The council chairman explained that the council budget are usually estimated based on expectations from the federal allocation, stressing that the local government council has no such fund already in it coffers.
Speaking further, Dr Chidi Lloyd while enumerating the infrastructure projects executed simultaneously across Emohua LGA by his administration, attributed the delay in project delivery to the resources available to the local government council from the federation which he said is a public knowledge.
The council chairman while thanking members of the Emohua local government legislative assembly and principal officers of the council for their continued support to his administration restoration agenda, noted that the achievements recorded by his administration within two years wouldn’t have been possible without their support and cooperation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chidi Lloyd says preparation was already in top gear for the commissioning of the 1.5 kilometer Uke-Eli road with 3 kilometer drainage in Rundele (Ward 7), the second road project conceived and completed within two years of his administration.
The council chairman on Tuesday visited the project site to ascertain the progress of work ahead of the commissioning ceremony which will be formally communicated to members of the general public in no distant time.
The Uke-Eli road is one of the four road projects conceived and executed simultaneously across Emohua LGA by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd in continuation of the infrastructure revolution witnessed in the area under his watch.
