The Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Friends and Associates have donated food items to the people of Rivers state to help cushion the effect of the closure of markets and businesses.
Representative of the donors, Chukwudi Dimkpa handed over 12,000 bags of rice to a non-governmental organization, The Green Nigeria Foundation Project, yesterday in Port Harcourt.
Dimkpa said the food is meant for the people of the state, irrespective of religion or party affiliation.
National President of The Green Nigeria Foundation, Ezekiel Iwaribani while receiving the items, promised to adequately distribute the food to the poor and vulnerable people in the state.
He also said the distribution of the food items will commence today, at Ogba Egbema, Indoni, Ahoada, Abua-Odua, while other areas will follow.
He thanked the donors for the kind gesture while urging other bodies to emulate the act.
