Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has urged the People’s Democratic Party to challenge the defection of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State and his Ebonyi state counterpart, Dave Umahi from the party to the All Progressives Congress.
The outspoken governor, disclosed this during a statement on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
Wike, who also called on the judiciary to take a stand on incessant defections urged the PDP to challenge the defections of federal and state lawmakers from the two States to the ruling party.
He stated that such move is capable of turning the country into a one-party state.
“Because if we do not take action, you will find a the situation where you will have a one-party State and that will not be good for our democracy,” he said.
“The time has come that the judiciary must have to rise to the occasion to make a final pronouncement of this issue of defection and that will go a long way to strengthen our democracy,” he added.
