The Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government, Sir (Hon.) Allwell Ihunda, DSSRS, JP, has presented a ₦19.97 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill to the 10th Legislative Council.

Tagged “The Budget of Consolidation and Impactful Governance,” the plan prioritises staff welfare, social services, and key infrastructure to boost development and service delivery across the city.

The budget allocates ₦15.35 billion for recurrent spending and social benefits and ₦4.63 billion for capital projects. It will take effect from 1 March 2026, pending approval, and will be funded through FAAC allocations, VAT, and internally generated revenue.

Chairman Ihunda assured that the budget adheres to IPSAS standards, emphasising transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline, while aiming to drive economic growth, human capital development, and environmental preservation in Port Harcourt
