The Chairman of Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. Eugene Jaja, has distributed relief materials to the people of the Local Government Area, to help cushion the effect of the lockdown in the area.
Eugene distributed the relief materials to his people, yesterday, April 4, 2020, shortly after leading taskforce to monitor compliance with the directive of the state government.
The LGA Boss, expressed satisfaction on the compliance with the directives, by the people as markets and businesses remained closed in the area.
He stated that, “considering the difficulties faced by the people on the market closure, the council met and deemed it fit to come up with some palliatives to support the people of the LGA.”
Eugene, rounded up the chat with news correspondent at the council’s headquarters by commending the actions so far, taken by Governor Nyesom Wike in the state to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The gesture by the Chairman was greeted with widespread jubilation by the people, as a stakeholder in the LGA, Dandison Mcpepple, commended the chairman for his kindness.
“Our able chairman has done well. He is a man with a heart of gold, that mean well for his people.” Dandison, said.
Furthermore, some stakeholders of the LGA, called on the Rivers State Governor to equally come to their aide by donating relief materials to help them this period, as they complained of hunger due to the closure of markets and businesses in the state.
The governor had earlier assured the people of the state that the government is working on some palliatives to help cushion the effect of the lockdown.
