Manchester City can now play in next season’s Champions League competition. This is after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifted their two-year ban from UEFA competitions Today.
Man City was handed the ban by UEFA for allegedly overstating their sponsorship revenue in its accounts and in the break-even information submitted to UEFA between 2012 and 2016.”
City not satisfied with the ruling by UEFA challenged the decision at CAS denying any wrong doing. Despite the ruling, the club will still have to pay a fine for failing to cooperate with UEFA authorities, according to reports.
CAS said, “Manchester City FC did not disguise equity funding as sponsorship contributions but did fail to cooperate with the UEFA authorities,”
“The CAS award emphasized that most of the alleged breaches reported by the Adjudicatory Chamber of the CFCB were either not established or time-barred,” CAS stated.
