The United Kingdom has become the first country to approve and authorise the Pfizer/Biontech coronavirus vaccine.
The Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Pfizer, Albert Bourla who made this known in a statement said the authorisation was a “historic moment.’
“Today’s Emergency Use Authorization in the U.K. marks a historic moment in the fight against COVID-19. This authorization is a goal we have been working toward since we first declared that science will win, and we applaud the MHRA for their ability to conduct a careful assessment and take timely action to help protect the people of the U.K.,” Bourla stated.
The company noted that the first batch, including 800,000 doses of the vaccine would be delivered to the UK next week.
