Residents of Bonny/Nembe Jetty that was gutted by fire yesterday, have alleged that over 20 children lost their lives during the incident.
A resident of the area in a chat with journalists yesterday, also alleged that over a hundred persons lost their lives.
She explained that the fire was as a result of an explosion from a boat that was carrying illegally refined crude known as “kpofire.”
The eyewitness, also noted that a pregnant woman was burnt beyond recognition, as they could do nothing to safe her.
Sources say the early morning fire destroyed over 60 boats and goods worth millions.
The state governor, Nyesom Wike had yesterday, commiserated with the affected families and also wished the injured, quick recovery.
Yesterday’s fire was one of many fire incidents in the state in the past few months.
