A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Showunmi, has urged Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to exercise caution in dealing with friends, particularly those who offer excessive praise.
Showunmi issued the warning in a statement on Tuesday while congratulating Fubara on his 50th birthday. He cautioned the governor to be wary of what he described as hypocritical individuals.
The PDP leader also encouraged Fubara to prioritize effective leadership, emphasizing that no human should assume the role of God.
He said, “Happy Birthday, Your Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State. Congratulations on turning 50 years old. It is not a bad occasion to be reflective and thankful.
“By the efforts of men and the grace of God, you are in such an enviable position, giving you a great opportunity to impact your space and to do as much good as you can to all that come your way.
“Beware of friends who scream your praises, and never forget to always find space to reconnect with yourself, within yourself.
