Former governor of Bayelsa state, Timipre Sylva has resigned as the Minister of state for petroleum to seek the ticket of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa state.
According to Reuters, Sylva tendered his resignation letter to President Muhammadu Buhari last week, but the details of the resignation were kept private until now.
Sylva was governor of Bayelsa state from 2008 to 2012 but failed to be reelected in 2012.
The election will hold on November 11, 2023.
