A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, has sentenced one Joshua Adeleye, a banker with the United Bank for Africa, UBA, to two years imprisonment for conspiracy and failure to apply the Know Your Customer principle before money transaction.
The banker, who pleaded guilty to the crime was arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Justice P.M. Ayuba found the banker guilty of the charges and sentenced him to two years imprisonment with an option of a two hundred thousand naira fine, payable to the Federal Government.
Adeleye, had carelessly paid money to a customer without verifying details of the customer.
