Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Ipalibo Banigo-Harry, has spoken publicly following her disqualification from the APC senatorial primaries in Rivers State.
Addressing journalists in her ward at Obuama, Harry’s Town in Degema Local Government Area, the lawmaker expressed disappointment over the development, insisting that as a serving senator, she deserved to be cleared for the contest.
Banigo-Harry argued that the party should not sideline experienced female politicians at a time when there are growing calls for increased women’s participation in governance and elective positions.
She also appealed to her supporters to remain calm while urging the national leadership of the APC to intervene in the matter and ensure fairness.
Banigo-Harry was among more than 44 aspirants reportedly disqualified by the ruling party during the screening process across the country.
