The Rivers State Police Command, has confirmed the killing of some of its officers by unknown Gunmen across the state, on Friday.
Spokesperson of the state Command, Nnamdi Omoni in a statement in Port Harcourt on Saturday, said a total of seven officers were killed.
He said the assailants carted away over five assault rifles after the attack, and that the bodies of the officers have been deposited in a mortuary.
Omoni said the state Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday has ordered a manhunt for the assailants, so as to arrest and bring them to book.
“We have launched a serious manhunt for the preparators of last night’s attack on our men and facilities with a view to apprehending the culprits and bringing them to justice,” he said.
He assured residents of the state that the command is equal to the task, as it is committed to the protection of lives and properties of Rivers people.
