The Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners in Rivers state has announced that more than government support would be needed, for them to help win the fight against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.
General Secretary of the Association, Joseph Olawuyi in a chat with journalists yesterday in Port Harcourt, called on the private sector, philanthropists and well-meaning Nigerians to assist the government in its efforts to defeat COVID-19. This is because government cannot do everything needed.
Olawuyi stated that private hospitals in the state need to be supported as they are the ones that bear the brunt, since they are at the forefront in the fight to end the pandemic.
He equally noted that they will need grants this period to assist in taking care of staff salaries and other welfare packages as the Private hospitals are not like the public ones that gets paid whether they work or not.
