Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued Mrs. Abubakar, the wife of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, after a fierce confrontation with armed bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Military sources disclosed that the rescue operation took place at Tunga village, where soldiers engaged the kidnappers during a search-and-rescue mission. The bandits reportedly came under intense military pressure and fled the area.
They said the assailants shot Mrs. Abubakar before escaping when troops made contact with them.
“We have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. She sustained a gunshot wound and was bleeding, but troops administered first aid and immediately began moving her for urgent medical treatment,” the source stated.
The military further confirmed that the victim was stabilized at the scene before being evacuated to a healthcare facility for advanced medical care.
