Political parties in Rivers State have announced some of their candidates for the forthcoming local government chairmanship primaries across various councils.
In Asari Toru, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will field Onengiyeofori George, while Charles Wobodo has emerged as the APC candidate for Ikwerre. Chidi Lloyd will contest under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform in Emohua, and Thomas Bariere is set to represent the APC in Khana.
Other confirmed flagbearers include Mbakpone Okpe (APC, Tai), Akuro Tobin (APC, Okrika), Shedrack Chukwu (PDP, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni), and Uchechukwu Obasi (APC, Omuma). In Degema, the APC has nominated Michael Williams, while the PDP has picked Allwell Ihunda for Port Harcourt.
Additional candidates are Okechukwu Akara for Oyigbo, Abinye Blessing Pepple for Bonny, Vincent Nemioboka for Ogu/Bolo (APC), and Confidence Dekor for Gokana (APC).
The parties are expected to finalize and submit their full list of candidates ahead of the polls in line with electoral guidelines.
