Former Governor of Rivers State and current minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has reacted to the consensus arrangement of the All Progressives Congress, for the emergence of its Chairman, stating that he is a supporter of consensus.
It is believed that President, Muhammadu Buhari had asked the party to adopt former Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Adamu as the party’s consensus candidate, for its chairmanship position.
However, speaking to journalists at the Eagle square, venue of today’s convention, the minister said he is not a supporter of Adamu.
He noted that anybody that emerges as National Chairman of the party is expected to strengthen the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“I’m not a supporter of Abdullahi Adamu, I’m a supporter of the consensus. You know one mistake everybody is making. Just because nobody saw me in front of any candidate. Nobody can tell you today that I’m behind any candidate,” he added.
“The new Chairman that emerges will continue to see how he will strengthen the party to an election,” he said.
