The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a seven-day deadline to social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, demanding an apology over his criticism of Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s recent trip to the Vatican.
In a viral video, Otse condemned Akpabio’s visit to Rome for the Pope’s burial, arguing that the Senate President should have remained in Nigeria to address ongoing insecurity and visit states affected by violence, including Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu.
Responding on Sunday, the South-South Zonal chapter of the APC, through a statement by its Zonal Organizing Secretary Blessing Agbomhere, accused Otse of defamation and blackmail. The party defended Akpabio’s trip, noting that he was officially nominated by President Bola Tinubu to represent Nigeria at the Vatican.
The APC criticised Otse’s remarks as “unwarranted verbal attacks” against the Senate President and insisted that the influencer apologise within a week. The party also highlighted Tinubu’s recent directives to security chiefs as evidence of the administration’s commitment to addressing the country’s security challenges.
