The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, has empowered 100 beneficiaries from Obio/Akpor Local Government Area with a total of N100 million under the Agriculture 2 Wealth Programme – Phase III.
Each beneficiary received N1 million after undergoing practical training in poultry production, livestock farming, aquaculture and crop production.
Speaking at the commencement of the programme, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amaewhule, said the initiative was conceived to empower people with the knowledge, skills and resources required to become economically productive through agriculture.
He emphasized that agriculture remains a viable pathway to wealth creation, employment generation and sustainable livelihoods, particularly among young people
The initiative, according to his media aide, Martins Wachukwu, is aimed at combining financial support with practical agricultural skills to enable beneficiaries establish sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The beneficiaries’ training included hands-on farm-based activities intended to make the skills directly applicable to their businesses.
