A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Tony Okocha says he is now the leader of the party in the state following the victory of Bola Tinubu in the just concluded Presidential election.
Okocha, who made this known during a press briefing yesterday in Port Harcourt, said he automatically became the new leader after, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi allegedly abandoned the party and voted for Atiku Abubakar.
He also alleged that a day to the election, the former Minister of Transportation ordered his supporters to vote for Atiku, describing his actions as anti-party.
“A day to the presidential election, he ordered his supporters to go and vote for the presidential candidate of the PDP. And himself, we have it on record that he voted for the candidate of the PDP, Atiku,” he said.
“That naturally disqualifies him as leader and that I, Okocha, who won election with my own faction for our presidential candidate is now the leader of APC in Rivers State,” he claimed,” he added.
He reiterated that they will support Gov. Nyesom Wike’s candidate, SIM Fubara in saturday’s governorship election as pay back for Wike’s support for Tinubu.
